Code of Conduct
Summary
The Global AI Community Code of Conduct provides a clear set of guidelines designed to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants—whether attending online or in-person events. Drawing on best practices from established models like the Contributor Covenant, it articulates expected behaviors, enumerates unacceptable actions, and explains reporting and enforcement procedures to maintain community standards.
1. Purpose
This Code of Conduct aims to:
- Define Community Values: Make explicit our commitment to respect, empathy, and inclusion for people of all backgrounds and identities.
- Set Behavioral Expectations: Provide a handbook of how participants should conduct themselves to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
- Outline Enforcement: Clarify how reports of misconduct will be handled, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process.
2. Scope
This Code applies to:
- All Global AI Community Events: Including but not limited to workshops, conferences, meetups, webinars, hackathons, and social gatherings—both online and in physical venues.
- Every Participant: Attendees, speakers, volunteers, organizers, sponsors, exhibitors, and any other users of community channels (forums, chat, social media).
3. Expected Behavior
Participants are encouraged to:
- Be Respectful and Considerate
- Use welcoming and inclusive language; treat differing viewpoints and experiences with empathy.
- Communicate openly, thoughtfully, and constructively.
- Show Empathy and Kindness
- Demonstrate courtesy, kindness, and patience toward others.
- Gracefully accept constructive feedback and apologize when warranted.
- Foster Collaboration
- Focus on what’s best for the community; help newcomers feel welcome.
- Comply with all event and platform policies, as well as local laws and venue regulations.
4. Unacceptable Behavior
Examples of prohibited conduct include (but are not limited to):
- Harassment and Discrimination: Any form of harassment, intimidation, or discrimination based on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices .
- Aggressive Actions: Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following; violent threats or language directed against another person .
- Sexual Harassment: Unwelcome sexual attention, advances, or sexual language and imagery in any conference venue, online or offline .
- Invasion of Privacy: Logging or taking screenshots of private online activity without explicit permission; sharing others’ personal information without consent .
- Disruption: Sustained disruption of talks, workshops, or other events; excessive swearing meant to intimidate or offend.
5. Reporting and Enforcement
- How to Report:
- Email our Code of Conduct team at conduct@globalai.community.
- Use the in-platform “Report” feature in virtual events or notify an on-site staff member at in-person gatherings.
- Investigation Process:
- All reports are reviewed promptly and kept confidential.
- The team assesses the severity, may gather additional information, and consults with an advisory panel as needed.
- Possible Outcomes:
- Warning: A formal notice that behavior must change.
- Temporary Action: Removal from specific sessions or suspension of community privileges.
- Permanent Ban: Expulsion from all future events and channels for severe or repeated violations.
6. Integration and Acknowledgments
- Integration into Registration: Attendees agree to abide by this Code upon registration; links and reminders are provided throughout event materials.
