Azure Deployment Environments: DevOps On Demand - John Folberth

You are a developer in an organization where infrastructure is owned by an operations team and application code is owned by the development team.

You submit a pull request and your CI build triggers the deployment of a contained azure environment, deploys the application code to the new environment, runs your tests, saves the results, and then destroys the environment. All prior to any merge!

Azure Deployment Environments allows teams to create on demand infrastructure either through the Developer Portal or through their CI/CD pipelines.

This session will walk through how to: - Create an empty Resource Group with appropriately provisioned access for a sandbox - Create a front end environment which is connected to a shared Cosmos DB and Log Analytics workspace for developers to test changes in - Walkthrough incorporating this front end deployment into your CI pipeline, deploy your code, run a simple Azure Load test, save the results, and destroy the environment.

By the way this will cover how to do this in Bicep and Terraform.

This functionality extends to the self provisioning of sandbox, training environments, and PoCs. This coupled with the DevBox experience starts to focus on increasing Developer Velocity
