About

Hear Derek Moore's latest talk on AI.  Open source software is humanity's most successful large-scale self-improvement system. Every bug report, patch, and pull request becomes part of a collective memory that makes the project better for the next contributor. This talk explores how the same pattern can be applied to AI itself.

Using Hermes Agent as a case study, we'll examine how AI agents can discover flaws in their own codebases, file issues, author patches, generate reusable skills, and accumulate knowledge across sessions. By treating repositories, issue trackers, and pull requests as persistent memory, agents can continuously improve both their software and their operational knowledge.

The result is a practical form of recursive self-improvement grounded not in science fiction, but in the proven mechanisms of open source collaboration. When AI begins contributing to the systems that create and operate AI, communal improvement and machine improvement become part of the same feedback loop.
