What is included?
Look for the AI credits pill on a course card. It means the course has AI access enabled. You get your own API key, a shared token allowance for the available models, and an expiry time. You do not need to bring your own provider API key.
Get your API details
- Sign in and start a course that includes AI credits.
- Open a lesson and choose AI API Details in the course sidebar.
- Activate your access when you are ready to use it. This starts the expiry timer.
- Copy the base URL, reveal your API key, and choose one of the listed models. Use these details in the course's code examples or an OpenAI-compatible SDK.
The details open over your lesson, so you can check your connection settings and remaining allowance without losing your place.
How credits are used
Your allowance is measured in tokens, the small pieces of text a model processes. Both the text you send and the response count toward usage, including reasoning tokens when the model reports them. All models available through your key share the same balance.
Before a request, we reserve an estimate for its input and limit the response to fit your remaining allowance. When it finishes, we charge the model's reported usage and release any unused reservation. The final request can take usage over the allowance if the estimate was too low.
Send one request at a time. Long conversations use more input tokens, so you may need to shorten the history as your balance runs down. If a request is interrupted and its usage cannot be confirmed, access may wait for review.
How long access lasts
Access starts when you activate your key and normally lasts twice the course's estimated duration. For example, a 60-minute course gives you 120 consecutive minutes from activation. Closing your browser does not pause the timer.
Course access ends when you complete the course or the key expires. Requests also stop when your allowance is used up. Check AI API Details for your expiry time and current balance.
Need more time or tokens?
Open AI API Details and choose Request more access below the connection details. Add an optional reason and send your request to the course organisers. You can check its status in the same window. Extra access needs approval and is not automatic.
Keep your key private
Use your key for the course exercises. Do not share it, commit it to a repository, or include it in screenshots or support messages. Use sample data rather than personal or confidential information in your prompts.
If access is temporarily paused or a request needs review, follow the message in the details window. For other problems, contact the community team without including your key.
